The Democrats are up in arms because the Repblicans are starting to try and change the rules that are in place when things they are trying, get shot down. The Republicans are starting to use the same strong arm tactics that they used here in Texas. While they are in control they want to make it near impossible to be overtaken down the road. They want to make this a one party country.

Then why don't the Democrats like the idea of the Republicans offer to roll back the rule changes? Answer - they fear the rule change roll back.
