KQ thinks he has nut flush.

[/ QUOTE ]

He does.

Well, it's all semantics, but a straight flush is often referred to as a higher flush than say Ace high, and thus the 'nut flush' is a straight flush.

It's 76 suited. Flop comes 89T of your suit. You flop a straight flush. Guy with AK (or AQ or AJ) of the same suit thinks he has the nuts. Boom, runner runner royal straight flush.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is an equivalent bad beat. Both are 1/990. I don't see how it's worse.

[/ QUOTE ]
Because 76 suited got a straight flush cracked, not four of a kind. So, even though the odds of it happening are the same, it's still considered worse by some to have a straight flush cracked than a four of a kind. Either way, you just lost all your chips.

Of course before the cards are turned over you could be drawing dead with the straight flush. With the four of a kind example you were garunteed to at least be a 329:1 favorite.

No. A straight flush and a flush are different hands.

First of all, this is not the worst beat of all time. I am the author of the worst beat of all time. Bally's Wild Wild West Casino, AC. The board has 2 aces, so using my electronic wrist card dealing mechinism, I quickly exchanged my 7 deuce for A A. I showed down quads, and the gentleman across from me- an elderly man with super-white hair and cosmic blue eyes, wearing a dusty brown suit and gun holster, says with a raspy voice:
"Boy, I reckon your gonna be sick, cause I got you wrapped up 'bout as tight as my great-grandaughter's ass."
The dealer looks at his hand, and shouts: "Oh, Big Brind Special! A ROYAL FRUSH!"

I stared into his eyes, and said, "When a naked man is chasing a woman through an alley with a butcher knife and a hard-on, I figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross."

Then, the lit cigar fell out of his mouth and smothered in his quadruple jack on the rocks. Blood ran from his mouth. The joint grew silent, but nobody dared look as I just shot this man square between the eyes.

The dealer pushed me the pot. "Now that," I said, "Is the worst beat I've ever seen."
