worst beat of all time?
While playing at the borgata in AC I built a $450 stack playing 2-5 no limit. Then I am dealt 77 and the flop comes 277, giving me four of a kind, obviously. Some very crazy man bets all in from under the gun, pushing about 4 and change. At this point I feel as though I am a fat kid who just won a ticket into wonkas factory. I naturally call and the huge pot draws a crowd of on lookers. He flips his JJ and I expose my four 7s. He is not feeling so hot. That is of course until the turn and river are JJ. He wins I lose. As if this is not bad enough, an on looking pit boss gives the guy a hat for winning such a nice hand. In summation, he gets ridiculous cards, my money, and a free hat, and I get zero. Any questions.

Re: worst beat of all time?
Any time your foe is dead to two specific cards, and he needs both, it's 1080:1 with 2 cards to come.
However, losing 4 of a kind to higher 4 of a kind is not the worst 1080:1 bad beat possible. Can you guess what is? Hint: It's 76 suited. Flop comes 89T of your suit. You flop a straight flush. Guy with AK (or AQ or AJ) of the same suit thinks he has the nuts. Boom, runner runner royal straight flush. Never seen it. But I have seen 54 suited. Flop comes A23 same suit. KQ thinks he has nut flush. Runner runner JT for Royal. Happened to me (I had the 54). The worst 3 way bad beat is Ah Ax Kh Kx Qh board with AA, KK and JhTh out. |

Re: worst beat of all time?
Play in a casino with a bad beat jackpot and smile when the dealer gives him his 800 in change and you get 300,000 check from the pit boss. Shake his hand, invite him to the sizzler, and then go home and dance a jig. On a serious note, that is a real shame, and I'm pretty sure i'd be in the hospital (recovering from my heart attack) awaiting my court date (for first degree battery, possibly 1st degree murder)

Wow.
You are the first person I've ever corrected on this who understood what the reasoning was without me having to draw a picture. Seriously. I have renewed faith in humanity. Josh |
