In that same vein, how about KK?

ONLY fold if he is not capable of doing that with anything other than AA. If they ONLY go all-in PF w/ AA, then you need to fold. If you know that player has the ability to do that with AKs, AKo, AA, KK, QQ, JJ (some even do any pair hoping you have two overs) then you have to call.

Im pretty sure you should almost never fold KK. Maybe if there were 9 allins in front of me and it was the first hand of the WSOP i might fold. Other wise you probably shouldn't

.25/.50 blinds live game. Hero has $40 behind, all others more.

Hero is UTG with KK and limps.

UTG+1 raises to 2.50. 3 callers, Hero raises $10 more.

UTG+1 pushes all in.

All fold to Hero.

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't make a habit of limping with KK. Call the push.

Default Poker is Situational Guys

First of all, the guy is in a six max game, not a full ring game. That increases the value of AK a lot. He ended up being up against Queens, which is not a bad spot for AK, he was just unlucky not to improve.

All in hands vary a lot. At my local casino, I am probably not folding AK preflop if I don't have much more than the buy in. Why? Because people will go all in with AQ, AJ, A10 etc. Yes, Kings and Aces come up, but mostly likely in an all in youre ahead or slightly behind with AK, so I'll take that gamble.

On the old blind structure at party AK was definitely an all in hand. Now, I'm not so sure.

And yes Kings can be folded before the flop. Its hard to do and I've done it very rarely, but against an opponent you have good notes on for being a rock, about the best situation you could hope for if he's reraised you all in preflop is for him to have you tied.

A rock is simply not going to risk all his chips with pocket Queens preflop or AK. Although this is especially true online where games are tighter, even the tighter players in casinos will usually not go all in with less than Kings.

I haven't played 6 max in awhile, but last I did, the play was very aggressive, and you might very well need to get your money in with AK, first because its probably the best hand, and secondly to play back at your aggressive opponent.

Hope this helps,

David
