Given your long description, I bet/fold. He probably has an Ace, maybe a big one and he is committed to showdown come hell or highwater. Since you have only shown down one high quality hand (top two) he might be somewhat shellshocked and concerned about a 5 and he has a King. If that's the case, so be it.

I check behind on the river. Not sure what to do if he bets out the river, I'd say it's at least 80% you're beaten if he stop n goes it like that.

you say you are ahead, you 3 bet the flop, so you have to bet the turn. is this a trick question?

Bet, and you can easily fold to a raise.

[/ QUOTE ]

Pretty much the line I was taking, he was very uncomfortable when I three bet the flop (and noticably so). I may have been able to squeeze of a thin river value bet if the river came correctly.

Though checking behind n the river is a really good default play.

[ QUOTE ]
If he's that passive, then it doesn't matter whether you bet/check or check/call. I prefer not to give out free cards (to a good ace), and have the option of betting the river when I catch a miracle

[/ QUOTE ]

Nice anaylsis.

you've been assaulting his blinds and he's getting tired of it, but he's predictable and sounds pretty abc from your read.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is the key point of the hand, I think he's playing back to make a stand on the flop, he would most likely slowplay a 5 or a big King. So either he has a weak King or he has some form of big Ace that whiffed, maybe another PP.

[ QUOTE ]
i bet again here, i don't want to give a flush draw or overcards a free shot at outdrawing me. the pot is 5 bb, i think giving a free card in this spot is bad news. true, he could have a king or a 5, but i think you get raised on the turn here if he does per your read of the BB. i think i'd have to lay down to a raise on the turn.

[/ QUOTE ]

Easy turn fold against this cat to a raise.

[ QUOTE ]
it doesn't sound he would try any fancy stuff with a worse hand if you bet here.

[/ QUOTE ]

If he is capable it would be the first time, I don't ahve a rep for folding so people usually lay off on the bluffs as I look them up very frequently.

Well, I bet the turn after he checked. He looked at me and with a disgusted expression said...

"Jesus Greggie, you can't effing have it every time!" and folded.

I think I bet out on the turn if there is a reasonable chance that he will fold, which I suspect there is and if he calls then I just take a free showdown.
