I know you're trying to mock him but he's generally right and your notion about betting the river is, as you intended it to appear, silly. The flop bet and, dependent on the turn card and who sees the turn, to a lesser extent the turn bet are not designed to fold a better hand but are rather 1) bets for value and 2) bets seeking to induce a hand to fold incorrectly (it does happen).

I agree. I bet here everytime barring reads.

One, you might be best. Not really that big a stretch.
Two, the button might fold, that's a huge win going to the turn.
Three, Shania. My TPTK, sets, AK spades, etc gain value.
Four, I can have some idea as to how to play the turn rather than being totally in the dark.

I did not intend to come off as a jerk....My intent was not to mock him. In fact, I thought tolbiny was being a bit facetious when he said, "The key is to make sure you have ontes on players who will coldcall your raise and then fold to a flop bet." I do note players like this, but these players are pretty rare in my limited shorthanded travels.

I have found that there are tons of players who will cold call your pfr, and then fold for one bet on the flop. I've even got a few buddylisted who have folded for one bet after a CAP preflop. That said, I don't really like betting here with no reads. There are just too many people in this hand. If you bet here, you really do have to follow up on the turn most times, and against 3 more players that you know nothing about, that's not very profitable.

I have folded on the flop for 1 bet after a cap pre flop. I can list you quite a few situations where it happened and I doubt it is wrong.

You should be betting this flop pretty frequently regardless of raising preflop. In fact, if there was no potential flush draw, I would bet this close to 100% of the time in an unraised pot, whatever my position.

No need to look, that makes sense to me. I didn't think it through all the way.
