I'm with Daryn

while these cute software gadgets are so popular now, they will evolve and become more intellegent (and stealth)...... and thus will kill the online games. This isnt 'sky is falling' theory; just simple fact. Technology has always run ahead of man's maturity in using it.

Back to the dark ages of B&M, which is a shame.

Perhaps it's me (I'm sure it is) but I really don't think datamining is all that big a deal. When I first found out about it I thought it was the lost city of gold and datamined the hell out of Party for a few days. What I found was a bunch of hands on a bunch of rocks and TAGs; info I find out anyway just by playing.

If anyone wants to know my stats, go ahead. My guess is it will just be another in a long line of TAGs that populate Party these days. The fish bust out and are replaced by other fish, the TAGs are the ones that show up by datamining IMO.

Someone needs to figure out what port the software uses to phone home and post that.

Use of such “bot” software programs violates our Terms and Conditions of Use, and is detrimental to other players. By installing our software and using the Service, you consent to our software performing the functions described in this section. Our software may perform any or all of the following functions in order to detect the use of illicit automated programs and ensure that we maintain a “cheat free” environment for all users: (1) scan your list of active software applications while you are using the Service, (2) scan your list of active processes while you are using the service, (3) scan the files in your PartyPoker.com-related program folders to ensure that only “non-hacked” versions of our software are being used. If any of the foregoing processes reveals a suspect application or process, our software may (1) scan the files associated with the suspect application or process and compile a composite mesh (i.e. a profile that characterizes the files associated with the application or process) to be matched against profiles for known illicit automated programs, and (2) capture a screenshot of your desktop, and transmit these to PartyPoker.com for review. Our software will not perform any random search of large portions of your hard drive or other files, and will not transmit any information to us or to any third party other than the information necessary to identify use of illicit automated program as described above. Using shared data is definitely against Party/skins rules.
It is the reason they want Prophecy shut down.

Explain it to a poker player who has never played online, see if they think it's a big deal. (Hint: They will think it's cheating)

What pro players think of stuff is almost unimportant. What is important is that the fish think stuff is fair.

A program that tracks what they are doing, even when the owner is not online, is as close to a bot as you can get without actually having a bot.

I just checked to see if there was any new programs added to the list of bot software title texts that is sent to each skin when it initially connects to the login servers.
This is the one that is sent to PP:

INFO.POKER_BOT=WinHoldEm,Inspector,Notepad,Calcula tor,Wordpad

Now I can't say for sure but it sure looks to me like those are the title texts that PP & skins are looking for when looking for third party apps.

The one that is sent to Empire is actually smaller:
INFO.POKER_BOT=WinHoldEm

The following URLs are also sent if anyone is interested:
INFO.PBDL=pokercalc.com,texasholdem-poker.com,twodimes.net

And this little tidbit which doesn't make a lot of sense:
INFO.PBKPL=WINWORD.EXE

Anyhow I don't see anything mentioned anywhere regarding PT, PV, GT, PO, or really anything else I can think of outside of the above applications.

I'm not trying to speculate on what he is or isn't using I'm just showing what the PP servers are spitting out.
