I was debating between the 2005 and the 2001, and I just don't get this overlap issue. Its something like 50 pixels of overlap in the up-and-down direction, right? Why is that significant at all? Do people just want the 2001 because they get cool points for 4-tabling with no overlap?

Also, if anyone has any info on deals/ways to upgrade Dell's desktop packages from whatever monitor to either of those monitors, please let me know. I dug around on their website and didn't see any simple way to do it.

It is not a huge overlap, but it is significant enough that when I am looking at spending 500 bucks on a monitor I want something that has perfect specs. Furthermore, I am used to a CRT that runs at 1600x1200. I am used to the extra desktop space while I am doing non-poker computer activities.

Looks like there's a 30% off the 2001 right now... and a 20% to be released tomorrow morning.

But wait... the 30% expires before the 20% begins. Argh.

Anyone ever experiment with trying to stack these right around the time of expiration?

I have both a 2005FPW and a 2001FP and unless you are strictly going to play poker on this computer than I would highly recommend the 2005FPW.

The overlap is virtually nothing compared to the much better dual web suring / document comparison options with the 2005FPW. You can 2-table and surf easily with the 2005FPW and you cannot easily do this with the 2001FP.

Of course buying both is an option as well!

or maybe go for the newer 24" LCD.

the 2005f also takes up more real estate on your desk since they are wider

You people all suck... just get a 2405FPW; it was worth every penny.

What does Dell consider the better of the two models the 2001FP or the 2005FPW?

If the price of the 2005 is coming down like this I would hope that the 2001FP is not far behind.

*crosses fingers*
