Re: Sklansky, Philips, real masters?
[ QUOTE ]
I think Paul ends up being sarcastic because so many of the posters who reply to him are utter morons. [/ QUOTE ] As far as I'm concerned, he's acts nice to those people compared to how the 'regulars' treat ignorance. The crowd just looks down on his sarcasm more, because he is a 'name'. |

I will never become as good as these players, but I know that the day your mentality has become such, you are just a sitting duck waiting to be outclassed by more open-minded challengers. [/ QUOTE ] Why arent you going to become as good as them?? Thats just way too weak. |

I wrote it because I did not want to seem like someone who has watched television and says "I play better than the pros" On the other hand, if I or you can be as good as them, I don't know. I guess there are some requirements how it comes about talent and personality that you either have or not. |

Re: Sklansky, Philips, real masters?
I don't know if "arrogance" is the right word. They are both analytical/math guys, and for them, math is god. It may not matter if they are arrogant or not if they think the point they are making is the right point. For analytical types, 2+2 = 4 and that is that. They aren't necessarily defending themselves or their ego but are matter-of-factly stating the rules of the universe as they see it.
However, yes, commonly-held rules of the universe don't always hold true. I've seen some amazing things done with the mind that a typical psychologist-type person would dismiss in a heartbeat. 2+2 doesn't always = 4. |
