Question about selecting a monitor

I have the Dell 20 lcd and when I first got it I wasn't overly impressed compared to my old Viewsonic 17" crt. The Dell seemed almost too sharp and too bright.
After using it for about 5 months I decided to try dual monitor, and I hooked my old Viewsonic back up.
I can't believe how much better the Dell looks, there is no comparison. The Viewsonic gives me a headache.
You don't need an expensive, fast computer to play poker, but in this case the monitor may be the most important component, since you stare at it for hours at a time.
The Dell was worth every penny.
