[ QUOTE ]
Betting out at least represents the Ace and you give yourself a chance to win the hand right there. Checking of any kind shifts the power to the villain and now he's putting pressure on you even if he doesn't have the ace. [/ QUOTE ] Put Villain on a hand where representing the ace is a good idea. |

[ QUOTE ]
Checking gives villain the opportunity to "convince" you to fold this. [/ QUOTE ] Hero isn't folding, period. [ QUOTE ] IMO, there are enough times that the villain doesn't have an ace, and where the villain has an ace with a bad kicker (who folds), that it warrants an open bet/push here. [/ QUOTE ] Villain isn't calling off 1/3 of his stack with an ace PF and then folding when he hits it. You C/R to give Villain a chance to bluff or bet his underpair. If he has an ace you're dead either way, C/R extracts the most when you're good. |

You're right.. if he has an A, you're toast whether you check, call, raise, whatever. If he doesn't have an A, checking makes this hand a whole lot harder than it needs to be.

Villain is betting no matter what hand he has. Either he has an A or he thinks his pocket pairs are ahead. You didn't give yourself a chance for the villain to fold his pair to a bet.

[/ QUOTE ] Assuming that, for whatever reason, you've decided 'hey, I have kings, I'm not folding', why would you want him to do that, again? |

After some thinking, I see where you're coming from a little more clearly. You have a point, assuming you've made your decision to go broke with your Ks.

If villian has a low PP I don't want him to fold. I want the rest of his money. Betting out allows him the opportunity to fold. Checking will either induce him to bet which I fully intend to check raise all in. Or if he checks behind, it will make him think I missed, in which case he is more likely to call my turn bet. If he has an A then thats the chance I am willing to take. To summarize: Betting out pot commits hero and also makes him lose the most when he is behind and wins the least when he is ahead. Checking still loses when behind but wins more when he is ahead.
