Not sure how difficult it is to hack outgoing ports. They would have to put a trojan on the server site. But this is not inconceivable. There are lots of bored computer specialists who spend a good part of their life figuring out how to hack servers and intercept/re-route information. The amount lost apparently amounts in the billions, though it is never advertised for obvious reasons.

Interesting stuff. I went to WinHoldem.com and it just seemed like a stupid referral site to me, no real content or anything. Is there actually a messageboard or something where people are discussing how they make bots?

Also, I've been accused of being a bot before at the table, so who knows how many people who seem like bots really are.

Interesting discussion anyway.

Try .net instead of .com.

Ah, .net Whoops. Well I went there and read some of their forum and it makes me sick. They all should be strung up and hung, right in a row.

Up until a few days ago I was under the impression that there were no bots operating at any site and within the last couple days it's all that's been talked about on this forum. So does anyone have any idea how common they really are? So far it just seems like speculation to me.

BOTS ARE EVERYWHERE, THEY'RE IN EVERYTHING. Cheating will ruin online gambling just like it has utterly and completely ruined online gaming, which is why nobody plays multiplayer games anymore, which should be self-evident to anybody who studies online gaming numbers. We've entered a dark age plagued by luddites and other anti-technology fascists who are quickly ending the lives of technocrats everywhere. Quickly cash out of poker before it ends forever and for all time.

Did you read the discussion on their message board about SAABPO? They weren't too impressed with whoever "built" him. Luckily many of their regular posters were kind enough to offer to fix him so he'd be undetectable on Party. Yeah. The thing is, they openly use the word "cheating" too, but rationalize it by saying that the only goal with online poker is to win as much money as possible and have basically an "anything goes" mentality.

If you read the posts on the forum at the winholdem site, you'll see that some people are running bots, but quite a few people are getting caught and having their funds confiscated by party. It looks like the only way to use the winholdem bot is to have winholdem running on one computer and then having another computer to run Party. And even with the two-computer setup, some people are still getting caught.

So, it looks like Party is making a significant effort to catch people who use winholdem. It's hard to say whether Party could also catch bots that are made from scratch.

In any event, the bots in use today are likely only successful at the lower limits.

Wow, I love this website. Especially the "Do you see why?" in hand selection.
