Chuck Palahniuk is one of the best modern day writers. However, there are much better, less popular, writers out there who write in a similar style.

He is overrated, but can be good in limited amounts. I loved the ongoing bit in Choke about "[blank] isn't the right word but it's the first word that comes to mind."

survivor is his best book though most are good, except stranger than fiction and the travelbook
