The difference is night and day at a 5-star restaurant, even without including wine service. Your tip is also split among more staff members, and they turn over fewer tables. Martin

I guess my point was that I don't see the difference...so Dealer tips aren't percentage based? I was really arguing against the "they do the same work" point that was made earlier.
I've been to applebees, I've been to 5-stars, often times I find that the service at applebees is better than at 5-stars because the servers know that they have to work to get a good tip. The Servers at 5-stars know they're going to get a good tip because the bill is so expensive...see what I'm getting at?

Martin [/ QUOTE ] I am generally a big tipper, but I do believe that it is customary to tip more towards the 20% or more mark in a high-end restaurant. Applebees on the other hand most people probably tip more around 15% (and some pretax)....early bird special crowd at the diner is more around 10%.

fwiw, a buck a pot is standard even in very large games, and many high limit players aren't generous tippers at all.
