In addition to all the other stuff mentioned, women are also much more likely to call in to stay home with a sick kid than a man would.

why not? you get paid. [/ QUOTE ] Most employers view taking all sick days negatively. It definitely affects raises/promotions. |

It's because they have a tough time walking after I'm through with them. ~D [/ QUOTE ] So you beat them that badly. I occasionally smack a b*tch, but nothing that would prevent them from walking the next day. |

Women have many small sick day episodes.
Men save them up for a big one like ... heart attack or liver cancer. Men die ten years earlier and slack off in the grave. |

The women in your workplace are obviously smarter than the men there. You all get the same number of sick and personal days, they just take them, while you guys don't. [/ QUOTE ] You wouldn't be offended if an employer used this a reason to pass you over for a promotion, would you? |

Do you think employers consider this when making a new hire? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, if it's been a problem for them in the past. I was always told if you ever go to an interview and say any number more than "two" when the employer asks you how many sick days you take a year, then you may as well go to the next interview because you won't be getting hired at this one. We'd have to check the national statistics to get more than small-sample, personal numbers on this topic, but things similar to this are why "the glass ceiling" isn't necessarily unjustified in certain instances. Employers also have to consider potential maternity leave and such things. |
