Re: Party Super Monday Hand. How to play 99 in this situation? RESULTS
I really feel like I played this hand poorly. Anyways... I checked behind him on the flop. I really thought I was behind at this point. I felt he could very well have a Q or J. However, I'm not sure if he calls a flop bet with middle pair or not.
The turn brings a K. I really dislike my hand at this point and can beat very few hands. He fires at the pot and I muck. I know I played this hand very passive the entire way. |

Re: Party Super Monday Hand. How to play 99 in this situation?
Good point. I'm really feeling that the push is the correct play in hindsight. Gotta make something happen at that stage of the tourney. About 200 left out of 750.

Re: Party Super Monday Hand. How to play 99 in this situation?
Before I look at the results here, this is what I would change in the future.
Big blind is 200, you got 1985, 10xBB roughly. The problem with raising more than 3xBB with your small stack is you can't get away from 99 if the flop comes AKJ. So you can raise to 650, and be committed to your hand, or raise 2 to 2.5xBB (recommended once blinds get bigger), and make it 450-500 from mp1 and still be able to lay down this hand. I rather push here in this situation, since you don't get too many good flops with 99, and I would rather race or have some loose goose call me with 88 and down. Trouble is you might run into a bigger hand, but 99 is my cut off pair which I like pushing with. |
