Default Re: Spotting 2+2 ers at the tables

I'll usually respond if I see a brown-trout reference.
then they say "hey MB. thought so" and it's usually pretty much left at that (they'll usually give me their 2+2 handle as well).
It doesn't happen that often to me though...even though more and more people around here know the party-handle I play I most frequently use (and it's not very hard to figure out anyway).

Still...I think not having the EXACT same name on 97 different sites helps keep the brown-trout references down.

I haven't seen ANY VPIP or PFR conversations that I can recall. Perhaps I'm just playing on the right tables....or maybe because I'm using different names on different sites so i just don't get involved in many 2+2 discussions on the tables (ummm....hardly ever actually).

I save my 2+2 ideas for (gasp) the 2+2 forums.
Any table chat I take part in is usually nonsense gibberish of the "I want a double-cheeseburger" vein or "Wow....the Seahawks REALLY suck" or something like that.

When the conversation at the table revolves around poker I will try to make as little sense as possible IF I'm actually participating (which is a big 'if'). If someone tells me I played a hand well I respond that I got lucky. etc etc.

If I saw some of the discussions on PFR, VP, etc that you guys are describing I think it would piss me off more than any other occurance I've ever had at a table and I would probably leave.

Back to the names thing....I've frequently sat at tables with 2+2'ers who use the same name as on the forums...but they didn't know who I was.
not sure how much of an advantage I get out of such knowledge...but it can't hurt.

I have just learned my lesson with that. As of yesterday, my nick has been officially KILLED. Twice, within minutes of eachother, I was outed by two different people at two different tables who said something along the lines of "there are too many 2+2'ers now at this table, I've got to go. Good to see you Luv2DriveTT, see you at 2+2!". That was just plain rude. How dare they interupt my peaceful game... how would they like it if a spotlight was put on them? Its inconsiderate, and wrong.

I've recently said it in a differrnt post.... if you don't personally know someone, then don't drop the trout line. There was someone recently who was trouting anyone who was a Moneybag or an Eagle in his Poker Tracker. That goes too far! Stick to people who you know.

i just make my handle browntrout73, but for some reason people still friggen ask. I mean hahaha we're in the club, but people get tickled enough to make fish uncomfortable, but at least i can just say i'm a fish if someone asks.

Personally, I prefer someone just coming up to me saying, "hi, im so and so from the forum."

Works for me.
