Your opponent played terribly. Check the flop, then fold on the turn when an ace comes. Putrid.

Is the nut flush draw on the turn not worth staying in?

MortalWombat,

Ed was talking about El Jefe's opponent's play, not El Jefe's. Yes, El Jefe should definetly continue on the turn with his nut flush draw.

Because it's a great bluff/possible semi-bluff card if the other guy doesn't have one?

Hi Bernie,

This is not a good semi-bluff given the read of the preflop raisers raising requirements. Best case he's looking at TT for second pair, which most players will call down with here. Worst case he gets 3-bet by AK, AQs, AA.

Good luck.

why raise the turn?

a) try and get my weak-tight opponent to fold?
b) to get a free showdown if I don't improve? (tho I'm not sure I even want to show this hand down)
c) so if I get 3-bet I have odds to draw out?
d) build the pot for the flush I plan on making?

hey, I never said I knew what I was doing. this was one of those hands where you feel lousy because you took down the pot despite playing it wrong at pretty much every opportunity. which is why I posted it.

thanks for all the replies though.

If you're choosing to see the river, you raise it. You could get a pocket pair to fold fearing that you have an A. Don't underestimate the power of that A. You'd be suprised at how many will fold here.

If 3 bet, you're obviously folding.

As questionable as some of your plays were, your opponent's play was much worse. So eh.
