Re: Understanding implied odds...
[ QUOTE ]
I would not want to play this out of position, calling pfr and not having enough bettors in the hand to pay off the infrequent set. 22 hu/sh seems like a clear fold at this point regardless of odds. Just about the only way we win is a third two and meanwhile virtually anything on the flop puts us behind (if we aren't already). And after watching a couple 2+2 party tables, we'll definitely have to showdown. Seems too speculative for the expense involved... [/ QUOTE ] Ignoring odds is bad. What do you think I'll usually get at this sort of table when I flop a set? I'm working to make a deficit of between 6-8SB's back, on the average, postflop. Rob |

Outcome: Hero wins 26 BB. [/ QUOTE ] That's another example of how you can win more money at an aggressive table versus a passive one. That's assuming bad players, of course. Awesome job. And a good reminder to adjust your implied odds upward against bad, aggressive players. |

Re: Understanding implied odds...
Fold, don't cold call a raise here with pocket twos. Maybe if you were in late position and you figured it would NOT be raised and you anticipated at least 4 other players besides you to see the flop (like a few limpers, or few other people who cold called in front of you).

Rob [/ QUOTE ] Just curious as to where you got the 6-8SB number from. You're getting 3:1, but it's 8:1 to flop a set, so you'd need to make 8-3=5 small bets postflop. Is the extra 1-3SB's to compensate for the times UTG+1 limp-reraises or for the times everyone folds on the flop or turn? |
