Are the Players Worse on the Higher Dollar Sit and Goes?

On Paradise, I play both the $325 sit and goes, and the $109. I've had more succes on the $325 sit and goes than the $109 and the players somewhat worse. I've had a horrible streak of bad luck on the...

KQ Underrated?

I've had some success with KQ lately. I've won a lot of big pots with people paying me off with hands like Q10 or even something like K5 when we both flop top pair. I think its a very good tactical...

Re: Phil Ivey, the World\'s Best Poker Player Bar None?

Negreneau had an amazing year in 2004, no doubt. Ivey was playing mostly cash games. Negreneau hasn't done much in the WSOP, ME or side events.

Both players are still very young and legacies...

Very Interesting Hand Online. How would you play this?

This is a very tricky hand from 20k Paradise tournament. I have 10,000 in chips, a little less than average with blinds 400/200 and 25 antes.

Everyone folds around to me on the button and I have...

Phil Ivey, the World\'s Best Poker Player Bar None?

I was browsing the tournament records of some of the top poker players at hendonmob.com, and I found Phil Ivey's incredible for a number of reasons:...

Re: What Size Bankroll for Playing in Large Live Tourneys?

This thread wasn't started so that you all could try to top each other in wittiness, its a serious question in which a serious answer would be appreciated.

Desperation River Bluff

Have you ever been in a siuation where you raise preflop and get a couple of callers. You miss the flop completly but so seemingly did everyone else as they check too. Guy in the big blind checks...

What Size Bankroll for Playing in Large Live Tourneys?

Suppose someone were to fly around, playing in 20-30 large tourneys a month with buy ins between $300-$1,500 plus qualifiers for the larger events. They go to the WPTs, the WSOP circuit events many...

Re: Poll which hand is better, A10 unsuited or A8 suited

I see why. I failed to take into account that A10 unsuited still has a 1-2% chance of making a four card flush with either suit, plus the 1% straight or so, which makes it significanlty better. It...

Poll which hand is better, A10 unsuited or A8 suited

Assume you are on the button and go to steal the blinds middle-late in a tourney. A short stack reraises all in, you immediatly call because you are offered 1-4 pot odds.

Which hand would you...

Re: Johnny Chan eliminated from PLO 10K \"the push play\" fails again

I think it is a good play at times but way overused. Now most savvy players now that this play means weakness because it is used so much, either some draw or weak hand and people will call you down....

Re: My Tourney Report on the $2,500 WSOP No Limit

That was it. I had A10 of spades on the big blind, with about three limpers in an unraised pot. Flop comes A-8-10. I make small bet and get one caller. An Ace comes on turn and I have full house and...

Re: My Tourney Report on the $2,500 WSOP No Limit

Part 2

We have been about 5 hours into the tourney and I have 30,000 chips with the blinds at 400/200 and 50 antes if I remember correctly. I am moved to a to very tough table with a lot of big...

My Tourney Report on the $2,500 WSOP No Limit

The day of the $2,500 No Limit Tourney, I woke up groggy, tired and burnt out on poker after 3 weeks of non-stop play. I thought it would be a bad ideal to sign up for this tourney and cut into my...

Re: How To Deal With Good Maniacal Aggressive Players

Punker, on hand two I didn't call but put in a good raise preflop in early position and then he reraised me double. Maybe my raise could have been larger to scare out this kind of play, but not...

Re: How To Deal With Good Maniacal Aggressive Players

Thanks for the great reply.

We just have a difference of opinion as far as showdowns go. I want to take down pots 70-90% of the time without showdowns, even when some of those times I have a far...

Re: How To Deal With Good Maniacal Aggressive Players

The point of the post isn't about bad beats, it's about avoiding showdown situations and avoiding getting rereaised over the top by over-aggressive players (many times they have the best hand too,...

Re: I seem to do better in $600 MTTs

I have been doing really well on big buy in tourneys like Pearl at Paradise ($150), 4 table max ($250) and 10 mam-minis ($300). I too have found the cheaper tourneys much more difficult for a variety...

How To Deal With Good Maniacal Aggressive Players

I am generally a tight/aggressive or medium/aggressive tourney player and have done really well lately on online MTT tourneys. I have a good sense of when to call, fold and bluff. Lately it seems...
