Re: Aces help

I tend to use this general formula when raising preflop with hands like this. If your typical Preflop raise in 3xBB when opening the betting, add a BB for each call in front of you.

So in this...

Re: Drew a medium flush...river paired

So if on the river Hero bets and BB raises, MP3 calls and CO calls you would 3-bet on this paired and flushed board (with you holding 4th flush)?

P.S. I said you should call it - not fold.

Re: Drew a medium flush...river paired

Many players will call with a pair of A's or even K's. Bet this river!

If someone other than CO raises your river bet you might be beaten by another flush, but you still should probably call it -...

Re: Losing $ with AKo

One problem I found was calling down with OC thinking I had 6 outs. This is not usually the case - discount those outs and you'll be better off.

Re: Losing $ with AKo

I am at about 6500 hands with a total of 65 AKo hands.

I don't feel that I am making any huge mistakes but just wanted to make sure my basic ideas for playing this is correct. I am afraid that I...

Losing $ with AKo

Maybe it is just a case of variance with my PT DB still being on the small side, but I find that I am losing money overall with AKo and it is not just from EP/MP.

I have a feeling I am either...

Problems with middle pocket pairs (77)

In looking over my PT stats I see that I am still having problems with middle pocket pair holdings.

Many fish at the table but no read on SB or UTG+1.

Re: Flop play w/ 88 in a family pot

From an odds perspective:

The pot already lies at 14.5-to-1 which means anyone with 3 or more outs would be correct to call a bet, but the fact that most of the table are fish could mean that you...

Re: Flop play w/ 88 in a family pot

I bet this flop. You are probably ahead at this point but very vulnerable - so typically you may want to wait until a blank on the turn to play stongly. But the fact that you are ahead and that MP2...

Re: AQ o - BB versus a big field

This is the right line.

If you raise PF you should not try a check raise. On the flop you have the best hand so you want to bet it, it is for value and potentially protects you hand. Attempting...

Re: AQ OTB - TPTK w/Nut BDFD

I like this line.

Just be aware that if you assume that villain has the flush after his flop 3-bet, you are drawing to only 7 outs to a flush (completly discounting a runner-runner to the full...

Re: 95s, interesting hand.

I think you need to raise the flop. It is partially for value since you are only behind to a set and partially to protect your hand (i.e. get the CO and Button to fold hopefully). Even if the CO...

Re: Take a guess, bash away if necessary

Even though your read says MP1 is aggresive you should bet this flop - although the flop is not super connected you are still vulnerable to a straight draw and overcards or even the BB's trash...

Re: Between Trips and a hard place

I say 3-bet it. You have the best hand right now with 7 outs to the nuts (3x2's, 3x10's, 1x9) so why not get in the bets while you are ahead? You will most likely have 2-3 players calling with you...

Re: TPTK + 4flush board

Given your read on the villian and the fact that the pot is not quite a "large pot" I would fold. I mean a .8 PFA I can't see this guy trying to bluff a flush with the very real possibility that you...

Re: Let the berating begin... KK, fold on the flop

I'm a little confused.

From your title you seem to realize that this was a mistake - so is this just a fake hand post?

If it is a real hand - can you please explain your reasoning for folding...

Re: MPTK large pot, bet the turn?

At first I thought call the flop since you are probably behind but have good outs with the 2 Jacks, 3 Aces, and say about 2 outs for the nut BDFD and nut BDSD. But after thinking some more and...

Re: Went to far with undercards Ithinks

I have to agree with others that you should bet the turn.

Most likely he has an Ace, 8, or nothing (which includes a 4 or any low pocket pair):

If Ace or 8 he will likely check-raise a turn bet...

Re: Overplayed AQ on turn?

Does anyone think that calling the first raise PF was a mistake? Because of the folds hero is first to act after the UTG raise. Although a strong hand with AQ, it is offsuit and can be dominated. ...

Re: Passively played preflop and on the flop

A raise PF on both hands is called for - premium hand on the button in unraised pot - raise!

I would also want to raise both of these flops. Get those bets in while you have the best hand.

Re: Small PP hand.. intending to bet the turn UI for value.

Well, I would use the logic that losing an extra BB to call the check raise (with second best hand) is a small loss but losing a 10 BB pot (with the best hand) is a huge loss.

Re: Small PP hand.. intending to bet the turn UI for value.

Even if check raised on the river you only need to win this showdown > 10% [(7BB (pot) + 1BB(your bet) + 2BB (Check-raise) = 10 BB] of the time for it to be profitable. Given the action of UTG on...
