I got flamed for this at Party... Seemed legit to me, as the preflop raiser was very loose-aggressive (something like 40/20/2) Anybody want to chime in? Thanks in advance.

If I understand SSH correctly (and I don't), a raise here makes sense for two reasons:
1) Free card (if you need it)
2) Buy outs by folding the gutshots and bigger 9s
