Re: Home game - common problem for Dr Phil?
Try collecting the buy-ins in advance and tell the players that the money is non-refundable. Explain your reasoning regarding the desire to have a full table so that everyone has a chance to win...

Re: Home Game Guilt
I play in a monthly home game tourney (either $50 or $60 buy in) and, in the 6 months we've been playing, I've finished 1st twice, 2nd three times and out of the money once. I don't feel an ounce of...

Re: my first live tournament
At some point you have to make a move and although it's hard to be in love with KT, (suited or not), it doesn't sound like a bad play to me. I would say that unless you knew that there were other...

Re: Anyone else think AK is overrated?
Overrated? Maybe.
Misplayed. Often.
AK, (suited or not), seems to be one of the most often misplayed hands that I see. It's one of those hands that can become a Monster with the right flop...

Re: Turbo Texas or Turbo Tourney
I have both. Turbo Texas ($89) is the ring game simulation and Turbo Tourney ($59) is the tourney simulation. Both are great for practicing and the computer AI is certainly as tough as the games...

Re: I hate trying to get home games set up.
I've hosted a few home game tourneys and on the first go-round I required all who said that they were going to attend to pay the entry fee in advance (no refund if you decide to stay home.) No one...

Re: Best method of cleaning Kem cards?
I have Copag cards and I just use a damp cloth for cleaning. I wipe both sides of the card with the damp cloth and then remove any remaining moisture with a dry cloth. This method returns my cards...

Re: AKo preflop - 2 bets back to me
I agree that it takes dicipline to lay down AKo and I certainly agree that he was not up against random hands. However, he had no read on or experience with these players and the cost of two bets...

Re: AK from the SB against a steal and a resteal
Kind of hard to put the button on a particular hand but check-calling seems the thing to do here. Clearly he has something but is it a pocket pair or just a couple of big tickets?
What kind of...

Re: AKo preflop - 2 bets back to me
I'm not so sure that I would have folded here. After all, just how far behind can you be with AKo? AKo has just over a 48% chance to win the pot against 2 other random hands and I'll grant that...

Re: poker felt for table top--where to buy?
I purchased 3 sq/yds. of "doe suede", which is a synthetic suede fabric from a local fabric store for about $15. It was an awesome playing surface and is machine washable in case you get any spills...
