Re: Overcards, bet the flop ?
[ QUOTE ]
I give up [/ QUOTE ] As do I. I guess I will wait to see what others have to say, but I don't see your case of bluffing (or "semi-bluffing" with the 9 and 10 overcards) after a small pot on the flop with others to act behind you. What if you are raised? Checkraised? Called on the flop and a Q, K, or A comes on the turn? I am aggressive, but this seems stupidly aggressive to me. I am not trying to put you down, only get across my point of view, which seems very logical. Haupt_234 |

It seems logical to you, to me it seems silly. What if you are raised? Checkraised? Called on the flop and a Q, K, or A comes on the turn? Ummmm, Fold? |

Re: bump
A bet seems reasonable to me if either:
-You think you have a chance of winning it on the flop -You think you can fold AKQJ/T9 so your overcard outs are actually good. I guess that would depend on game texture. Or am I missing the point? |

Re: Overcards, bet the flop ?
Would anyone check raise this flop once it is heads up? As someone mentioned you will rarely get credit for the 4 when you bet out, but the check raise will certainly give the Button the idea you have a 4. There is a better chance he will fold to the check raise than a lead out bet especially since he may have just been taking a stab since everyone checked to him.
Even if he does call if an over card doesn't hit your lead bet will almost certainly make him fold. Too aggressive? |

Re: Overcards, bet the flop ?
I bet this flop only if I feel I will get the field to fold with a bet here and a bet on the turn - that's a BIG if. Not worth it to me betting into three players. Add to this that on the 5/10 you are very likely to get raised by someone with overcards or a small pair to clear the field.
On the whole, I don't see this as a hand the builds your stack over time. I saw below someone post that a backdoor flush makes a difference in their decision. I couldn't disagree more. If anyone finds themselves looking at a backdoor flush (non-nut to boot) in this situation as justification to make a stab at this pot, I think you're going to have to make up the chips elsewhere in your 5/10 game. Next hand. - Jim |

Would anyone check raise this flop once it is heads up? [/ QUOTE ] A flop check-raise does not represent a 4. It represents someone representing a 4. |

Re: Overcards, bet the flop ?
If you're going to CR, wait till the turn. A CR on the flop is only telling your opponent that you don't believe they have the 4. But it also tells them you aren't confident enough in your hand to wait until a later street.
But, I don't think that's a good line for this hand either. - Jim |

Re: Overcards, bet the flop ?
I think semantics got crossed up somehow. I'm not betting this flop without reads on the three opponents being likely folders (typical 5/10 makes this a general no in my book) - backdoor flush or no.
