Default two questions for MLG

1. What range of hands do you put him on after his PF minraise and flop check-behind?

2. How much FE did you think you had against that range?

Later,
Che

1. AA/KK/QQ/JJ AK/AQ

2. I think he folds everything but AA/KK/AK, so he folds more than half the time which is much more than I need.

If the turn is a J or a 3, what do you do?

I like your thought process (the steps you went through before making your decision) on this one.

My problem with the play is that usually min-reraise is a monster. How often do AK and AQ or JJ min-reraise you preflop? Maybe my range of hands is too narrow for the min-reraise but based on your read do you think you were being generous with his range of hands? You have a lot more experience then I do but how often do you see JJ or AQo make this play this deep (after the first two hours) into a tourney.
My perception is that people minraise w/ big hands because they want value and are afraid that you (good aggressive player) will fold to the standard reraise especially since you opened from a steal position.
My weak tight self would assume that he would check to fool you into thinking he reraised light instead of having a premium pair. I assume he thinks you will eventually bet because of your aggressive playing style and he has position. Also this just happened to me so maybe my opinion is now jaded by this recent experience. I wish my opponent had AK.
My main question is how often do you get min-reraised preflop in the later stages of a tourney with less than QQ or KK?

his check behind screams slow play KK AK or AA. I dont think QQ or JJ will risk another card and will bet this flop. Check and hope to have pot odds to see the river and bust him.

I disagree. I think everybody is too scared of the minreraise here. Lots of times with high blinds, weak scared players minreraise because they don't want to go all-in. Its a bad play, but it happens fairly frequently.

Interesting. Maybe we should gather some numbers. We can check our tourney histories and see how many min-reraises turned out to be aa,kk ... etc. But that would require a lot of work and who really wants to do it.
