Interesting Steal Hand
Final table of a UB $100 buy-in. I came in short, doubled with AA and semi-bluffed my way to the middle of the pack. After some ups and downs this hand came up with about 6 people left. Blinds are 2-4k and I have about 55k, my oppnent has 50k.
I make it 10k from the CO with J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Opponent makes it 16k, I call. Flop comes K83 with 1 heart. Action is check check. Turn is a 2nd low heart. I push. Thoughts? |

Re: Interesting Steal Hand
I like it,
You will most likely only get called by a hand that beats QQ, and still have outs if called. |

Re: Interesting Steal Hand
Is your opponent on the button? Maybe I missed that.
So, if you're first to act on the turn, then I like it. Even if he thinks you're semi-bluffing, he's going to have a hard time calling you with something like JJ, AQ, etc. |

Re: Interesting Steal Hand
You can't bet and checking is inviting a bet/push on his part. If he checks through to the river then the only way you win the hand is to win a showdown if it's checked through or to bluff at it.
I like it. Heck, you might even have the best hand with the 3s. |

Re: Interesting Steal Hand
Exactly, you may have the best of it with 3s. One question, were you planning on check-raising if he had bet the flop? Just curious of your thought process. When he checked, it made your position that much more difficult on the turn.
I sometimes, micro-bet the flop and pot bet the turn, just to vary my play. Just a thought. I feel this implies great strength. Stipe |

Re: Interesting Steal Hand
I like it. I don't really see any other way to play it, a bet might get reraised and you're pretty much committed anyways.

Re: Interesting Steal Hand
after i got minreraised preflop, I'm not looking to get tricky on the flop. I'll check and if he makes a real bet, I'll fold and give him credit for a real hand.

Re: Interesting Steal Hand
I love the way you played this hand. You totally exploited a weak player. What was he thinking? what do u think he had? medium pocket pair maybe...

He called and flipped over AK and I missed. Moral of the story for the villain, sometimes even when you try very very hard to bust yourself, you get the chips. I am very happy with the way I played the hand, and in my opinion the villain made a bunch of mistakes. Hard to believe when I got all the money in with J3 against AK, but there it is.
