When PT imports the hands every 10 minutes it really slows down my machine. This also slows down my tables. Any advice to fix this? Will adding RAM fix this?

More RAM, faster hard drive, faster proccessor will all help.

Realize that PT is a pretty resource intensive proccess.

Pentium 4 2.53 512 mb ram

Would you suggest bumping ram to !MB or more?

I'm running a similar system, but with 1 gig of ram. PT still bogs things down slightly.

change it to every 2 mins?

you will slowdown more often but it will be less noticeable and not last as long, i have mine set to 1 min while 4-6 tabling

you could also change the pt.exe priority under the task manager. this could smooth things over.

oh yes this is a big one, especially if you have 1K+ hands with several people.

Check to see if you have the "My pc does not update timestamp" checked. i unchecked that and then converted one of my drives to NTFS and it sped things up 3 fold.

Buy a cheap second computer, put PT on that. Network the computers and share the hand history folders between the machines so the machine with PT can read the files on your play machines hand histories folder. Then, when PT is doing the importing, it will slow down your PT machine and your Play machine will note even hiccup. With the price of used and new entry level systems, this is really the best option.

Vern

P.S. You can even use a HUD this way by then sharing the folders with your PT databases on the PT machine so the HUD operating on the play machine can access the database files on your PT machine.
