Canadian 2+2ers: Brantford Charity Casino
Wife is going out of town with the kids in a couple of weeks so I was thinking of making my first trip to play some live hold'em.
I'd be going after work on a Friday night, I work in Mississauga so the closest casino would probably be Brantford. How is it for hold'em? What limits do they usually spread and what's the wait like? Do they let you phone in and get put on lists? Any help would be appreciated! |

Re: Canadian 2+2ers: Brantford Charity Casino
The place is a P.O.S.
Either way, no phone in reservations, and the lists are max a couple hours for the 5/10 and 10/20, usually a little less for 20/40 or 30/60, whichever is the highest they're spreading (rumours of a future 300/600 game are flying all over, but it will likely be a one-two day per week thing a la Port Perry's 100-200 game). I'll see about getting out there for Friday, I usually play in the 20/40 at PP and Rama. My usual game plan around Brantford is dependent on the game. If it's a good game, I'll sit in it forever. If it's a bad game, I usually sit in it until I start to get restless from not playing a hand in a couple orbits and realize I'm likely to play bad cards, so I hit up the 5/10, get drunk, and become the maniac (i.e. raise/cap with any 2 preflop, play normally after that). So if you play those limits look out for a 22 year old white kid in a baseball hat and sweatshirt throwing chips around (I'll PM you closer to the weekend if you want to meet up for beers after/before). We usually bring 2-3 guys out and just party and cause general trouble in the poker room (whilst trying not to bother the patrons). Good times. |

Re: Canadian 2+2ers: Brantford Charity Casino
Hey bigjay,
I've been to the Brantford room probably a half-dozen times. First off, it's the closest to Mississauga but not by much, Rama is also within reasonable distance. However, Brantford's room is SO much nicer than Rama. They only have 9 tables, usually spreading 3 5-10's, 3 10-20, and a couple 20-40. I think on Wednesdays they spread a 50-100 game as well although I've never seen that. The room is super nice with friendly, knowledgable dealers and staff. Non-smoking, with TVs showing whatever sport happens to be on TSN at the moment. If you're going at peak times (weekends, evenings) expect to wait. As I say there are only 9 tables and they tend to be full during these times. I've waited anywhere from 1 hour to 2.5 hours... so get there as early as possible and you should be fine. I'm not 100% certain if they'll take your name on a waiting list if you call in but I doubt it. Hope this helps, -scamps |
