Re: QQ early... Push or Fold?
It's a tough spot, but I would fold (unless you know your opponent to be wildly aggressive). You've still got plenty of time and chips to play with; big re-raises like that reek of AA or KK when the table is still full/close to full. Lower pairs would likely call or fold. My $.02

Is calling out of the question?

Re: QQ early... Push or Fold?
Yes. If I call what kind of flop am I hoping for? If the flop has no overcards I still fear AA or KK. And A or K on the flop means I fold so by calling I'm essentially playing the hand for a set. I'd be getting 3-1 on something with about 8-1 odds.

Re: QQ early... Push or Fold?
Well since I've only committed T100 at this point it now seems like the obvious move is to fold and wait for a better spot.

Re: QQ early... Push or Fold?
What limits are you playing at that you think a reraise is automatically AA or KK? Why not AK or AQ or even JJ? I have no idea if this is a good play, but how bad would it be to call, see a flop, and if it has no ace or king, push?

Re: QQ early... Push or Fold?
This is a tourney no-limit hand. I raise to T100, CO re-raises to T660. He isn't re-raising that much with my raise and a call with a piece of cheese. It costs me T560 to call in hopes of flopping a set to get the T905 already in the pot and the remaining T895 of his stack. I can't call in this situation.

[ QUOTE ]
so by calling I'm essentially playing the hand for a set. I'd be getting 3-1 on something with about 8-1 odds. [/ QUOTE ] that doesnt sound right - if i call i'm pushing if no A or K flops i think fold is a decent choice - given you will get called by AK if you push pre-flop i can live with call and adopt the aformentioned plan stripsqueez - chickenhawk |
