Way too passive with my straight?
So I hit my straight on the river, but the straight card brings a possible flush, and the pot is raised in front of me. You 3-bet this, or just call?

Re: Way too passive with my straight?
I'm not sure that I'm going to stick around to the river on a gutshot, but if I got there, I'd at least bet it.

Re: Way too passive with my straight?
I would have either called the flop and fold on the turn or raised on the flop to get my hopeful free card.
On the river, this might be a situation where it's correct to just cold call, cause if you get capped, you will be more than likely be shown a flush. |

[/ QUOTE ] That exactly what I was worried of -- betting being capped, and then shown the flush. MP wakes up on the river and raises out of nowhere when the club hits, so I was thinking he had the draw. Didn't I have proper odds to call the flop/turn? If I assume my 3 A outs are good, that gives me 7 outs. As it was, I was up against two pair on the turn, so the 3 A outs I was counting weren't really good.. |

If you want to get really technical. One of your aces might be dirty.

Re: Way too passive with my straight?
I think MP1 was drunk and thought the river had given him a straight.
Calling is the right play as I think you'll see about half flushes, 40% two pair, and 10% other in this situation. |
