Default Charity event...positive EV or negative?

Local St. Jude "Dream Home" giveaway. 10,000 tickets at $100 apiece. House valued at $348,000.

Pretty cool that they raised $1M. Every ticket sold.

it is negative EV. it might be positive utility of money since it sold out.

how could you possibly ask if it was positive or negative EV? especially when you know they raised more money than the house is worth??

homes raise in value, and one has to quantify what it is worth to have a guaranteed roof over your head with no monthly payment
