Cashing a Neteller check

I took my Neteller check (for about $2000) to several check cashing places today and none would cash the check. Neteller's checks are drawn on a Chicago, IL "JSL Systems Corp"

Has anyone else had this problem?

I don't have a bank account down here, and haven't needed one until now. I'd like to get this check cashed, but I can't figure out how if no check cashing places will take it.

Only a bank will cash the check and only if you have an account with them.

Get a debit card. It's much better.

For a few % you could probably get someone else to cash and send you a money order. Anyone on this site you trust enough ?

What about cashing the check at a casino?

I'm going to New Orleans tomorrow, and will probably play at Harrahs some. Will they cash the check for me?

Well dude no wonder.. Who the hell is harris trust? I wouldnt cash that check either if I was a check cashing store.

Harris Trust only has $30 billion in assets, and is one of the largest banks serving the Chicago area.

I've researched this before and it is my understanding that all the major check cashing joints simply call neteller to confirm that the check is actually made out to you. Then I assume they confirm that the funds are available in the account (probably electronically) before giving you cash. I don't know why they would not have cashed it for you. You might have to say that it is a payroll check and that you are a subcontractor to JSL or whatever company is listed on the check.

Some of the people on this forum have assumed that this is a way of flying under the radar as far as taxes are concerned but All the check cashing places require your SS#, and if they have that I'm sure the IRS knows all about it.
