There are 2 limpers, UTG, this is the first time I've played with him. Other limper (OL) I like to play with because he's super loose.
I have K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in CO and raised, blinds fold, limpers call. FLOP: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG checked, OL bet, I raised, UTG called, OL called. TURN: A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG bet, OL called. Hmmm. I raised. Comments and results to follow. ~stephen |

Interesting hand. I'm pretty sure UTG doesn't have TT or 33 because he would have (or at least should have) raised on the flop. He could have something like AxJc but I really can't put him on any other A unless he's really bad. Could be QcTx (would he play that UTG?) Could also be a flopped flush. In fact, this is exactly how a flopped flush would play it. I think your raise is OK, but it would suck if you got 3-bet.

hi buck
this is a complicated situation. the flop raise is fairly rudimentary and correct of course. what i like to look at here though is how you would have handled it if the flop had been checked to you. it's 5:30 am here, i'm tired right now, but while checking down something like KQo with the Kc would be correct for reasons not readily apparent at first, betting with black KK is correct because you have a hand that you need to represent with in this spot, while the real value in the KQo type hand where you have the nut draw lies in it's hidden value. |

The other questions I asked myself during the hand was what do I do if I get 3 bet on the turn? Given that play what happens if a club hits the river? ~stephen |

I'd like to say it was a "cutting edge" play, as that's one of the options you gave us -- I especially wanted to use that answer as no one else has, and it's SO tempting to say, "Wow, cutting edge!"
Alas, I cannot; I will simply say that it was well-played. Please try again with another example where you did something else that truly is cutting edge, and I will tell you just that. Until then, settle for well-played. Barron Vangor Toth www.BarronVangorToth.com "Edge Cutting or Cutting Edge" |

I don't like the turn raise.
Of course, when you know the club is coming on the river, it is an easy raise! |

I don't like the turn raise either. Is it supposed to move someone off a better hand? Is it for value? I can't see it being for either case.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do if I had been 3 bet on the turn. I think I had the mindset to pay it off no matter what. Is that wrong? I didn't think UTG had an Ace because most would raise preflop. He could've had pocket 3's then why not check raise?
UTG called the turn raise as did OL. RIVER: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG checked, OL bet, I raised, UTG folded, OL called. OL hand Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ~stephen |

You can't put someone on not a ace just because they didn't raise preflop, esp if they are UTG. They could be playing any Ax suited, as well as AJ/AQ. I definitely think UTG had an ace here.
