Opinions on the Party NL 25 to 50 Transition
I'm playing strictly full games of NL 25 at Party thus far. I have 9,602 hands in with a winrate of 11.10 BB/100 hands - that's $11.10, not $5.55. So, my first question is, should I move up to 50?
Secondary questions are: 1) I'd have to believe that NL50 at Party is tougher than 25, so how much tougher is it? What different characteristics do these players have at the full games? 2) Can I continue to play a very straightforward no-limit game? What I've been doing so far seems incredibly simple and given the big bet option, a lot of decisions are simply made for me, where this can't be done at the limit game. My basic strategy: Play all pocket pairs from anywhere - let the stack of the raiser dictate whether I'll try to flop a set and double through a raiser. Play suited connectors and suited aces in the last three seats and in the SB. Play unsuited big cards with extreme caution - white this might not necessarily be a hole in my game, I haven't had many good experiences with KQo, AQo, etc. Always be willing to get all-in with AA and KK pre-flop. Unless I'm up against an obviously aggressive player, be willing to get all-in with nothing less. There's more to it than this, but this is basically what I've been doing, in addition to stealing a lot of pots with pot-size bets against timid players. Can a strategy as simple as this work at Party NL50? |

Yep. Works for me on the $50 NL tables, and I don't even play the draws you play from the last 3 and SB.
I never play suited connectors and only occasionally play Axs. Party stacks are too small to make them worth it I think. -Ben |

Re: Opinions on the Party NL 25 to 50 Transition
You should be fine. In my experience, there isn't that much of a skill difference between 25NL or 50NL, and if you're beating 25NL for over 10BB/100 hands you should go ahead and move up.

Re: Opinions on the Party NL 25 to 50 Transition
11BB/100??? Is that really sustainable over the long run? If so then I am very impressed. I'm striving to maintain 6.5 bb/100 and after today that's not looking so good. You're more than ready for the 50's...

Yeah, its definately sustainable. I've got 12.50BB/100 at NL50 over nearly 20k hands now, and I'm far from a great player.

Just curious, do you guys with +10BB/100 multitable or focus on just one?

Re: Opinions on the Party NL 25 to 50 Transition
I'm currently doing 4 tables and I'm still bored at NL. Like I said in my original post, I feel like I have so many non-decisions where the move is obvious, so much of my play is automatic. I think 6 tables of NL would be easier than 4 tables of limit.

Re: Opinions on the Party NL 25 to 50 Transition
I'd say my play is very similar to what you have (although I think I need to tighten up on suited connectors and Axs when out of position). One of my biggest weaknesses right now is bad decision making on steals. I rarely try to steal with 2 other players in the pot, but have some success doing it HU. Any advice?

Re: Opinions on the Party NL 25 to 50 Transition
yes 5 tables of NL are as easy as 4 of Limit because the NL games are 15% slower.6 is more work. But if your opponents are tricky multi-tabling 5-6 games may not be profitable so watch out as you move up and try and do this!
