Flopped Straight with 2 suits
I posted one off the button with T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in a loose, typical 5/10 pacific poker game. 5 limp to me. I check, sb calls, bb checks.
7 to the flop of Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] SB checks. BB bets, 4 calls and it's to me. Here's the decision. I figure if I raise, all will call. If I opt to wait for the turn and its no diamond, sb will bet again, and I can raise for more dollars. Of course, not everyone may call the turn... And a diamond could fall, ruining my hand... Raise or call? I called. 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] hit the turn. Checked to me. I bet, 2 callers. Blank river. One person called me on the river and I won. I feel like I may have butchered it though. |

Re: Flopped Straight with 2 suits
If you raise the flop, you are guaranteed to get 5 small bets. Therefore, the question is simple: are you going to get an extra 3 BB or more in the pot enough of the time (a little over 50%, give or take) to justify a slowplay?
There's almost no way for you to do that, especially with so many cards you don't want to see, so you have to raise ASAP. |

Re: Flopped Straight with 2 suits
With all 5 of us in though, raising would give the flush draw odds, wouldn't it?
