Re: Lake Charles this week....
Problems playing the isle. BAsically if your rounding you will want to play during the hours of 10am an 8pm Weekdays while the buses are coming and going.
The problem playing any other time your getting the no limit to my bankroll retires play 3-6 trying to hit the bad beat raising everyhand with 7 2. Now where this might seem nice it gets really agrivating when they actually get it on the end. And they contiously get it on the end. So your play has to be supertight an supercalm. Also there is alot of lookers since your squeezed into those tables like sardines. Make sure you cover your cards really well. I have caught 2 or 3 stepping or leaning back from the tables while your looking at your cards. |

This is not the best way to play these games. If it's very aggressive pre-flop, then playing a little tighter than normal is fine - however, my experience at the 3/6/12 game is that its rarely aggressive enough to play any tighter than normal. In fact, the games are often so loose-passive that I'll see flops with all sorts of hands, particularly in LP. The key to making money in this game isn't pre-flop, it's post flop. The spread limit game is perfect for speculative hands that normally need to see all 5 community cards to complete. With the $12 on the end it's nice to make that flush or straight and get your big bet paid off on the end. When you are playing so many mult-way pots - hands like AJo, AQo, KJo, etc.. don't play well at all. Big suited, suited connectors, etc... go way up in value. It took me a couple times playing spread limit to figure out how to play it. Playing too tight is definitely NOT the best plan. You're better to loosen up a little pre-flop (not play trash of course) and outplay them post-flop. Often, this is as simple as letting the LAG's bet your hand for you the whole way. The toughest opponent in LC is the rake. :-) |

Re: Lake Charles this week....
I didn't know they ran a 5-10 HE anywhere? I've never seen it.
10/20 is my game out there as well. Although, it can be fun to play the 3/6/12, if you are hitting some hands. It can make for a long night though if you aren't. |

Re: Lake Charles this week....
I don't know if I have ever found a better 10/20 than the one on weekends at the Isle. Play it tight and make 'em pay when you got a hand. Accept the bad beats and stack the racks at the end of the night. It is actually a much bigger $$$ maker for me than the 20/40 (most of the time).
