Default Ashamed of my JJ Play

No reads worth mentioning at the table.

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
2 folds, MP1 calls, Hero raises, 4 folds, BB calls, MP1 calls.

Flop: (6.50 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB bets, MP1 calls, Hero raises, BB calls, MP1 calls.

Turn: (6.25 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, MP1 checks, Hero checks.

River: (6.25 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB bets, MP1 raises, Hero folds, BB calls.

Final Pot: 10.25 BB
Main Pot: 10.25 BB, between BB and MP1. > Pot won by MP1 (10.25 BB).

Results in white below:
BB shows Ks Qd (one pair, kings).
MP1 shows 2h 2s (three of a kind, twos).
Outcome: MP1 wins 10.25 BB.

I basically hated every way I played this hand after the flop. Any comments?

If you are going to fold JJ when you river a set then you shouldn't even play JJ at all. In fact, you probably shouldn't play poker at all. Sorry to sound harsh but if anybody were keeping a history book of terrible plays I think they would tear out every page and write your river in there.

What were you thinking? AQ? KK? Your opponent's play in this hand told you that he had everything but that.

Holy guacamole!

P.S. Bet the turn, 3-bet the river (and don't fold to the cap!!!)

Q9, 89, and any two diamonds beats him too. I'm not saying the fold wasn't bad, but there are more than just 2 hands he's behind to here.

If you were not going to feel good about jamming your set if the J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] hit (completing a possible flush), then you should have folded on the flop when there was a bet and call in front of you. That would not have been a terrible fold, since there is something to be said for playing more cautiously with a big pair when one of your set outs could make someone a flush.

I know. I was just mentioning the obvious ones that should pop into one's head prior to 3-betting the river.

I understand the 3rd diamond is scary but it's a spot you have to at least call. There's definitely at least better than a 1 in 5 chance you have the best hand here.
