Folding KK preflop.
Down to 86 players and, regardless of the fact that it's a pokerstars freeroll, most of the scrubs have been weeded out, and most of the remaining players have an idea what they're doing.
Blinds are 1000/2000, I have about 105k. UTG raises to 8000. I'm new to the table but from what I have seen he is a solid player. He just has me covered. I'm UTG+1 with KK. I reraise to 28000. Folded to UTG, who thinks for a couple seconds and then pushes in. How strong is the stench of AA? Could any of you lay this down? Even though the smell was pretty strong, I had to call. |

Re: Folding KK preflop.
If you think you are better than most your table, fold. You seem to have had a good read on the guy, why not follow your instincts and fold?
I think its one of the toughest things ever to fold KK, but you were probably dead on regarding your instict and his AA. F.O.L.D |

Re: Folding KK preflop.
I have yet to be able to put this hand down.
Last 3 out of 4 times that I got re-reaised PF with KK, got killed by AA. Like you, I smelled it every time, but couldn't bring myself to put it down (LEAK) The 1 of 4 where it wasn't AA I called and my opponent turned over AKs, and spiked an A on the flop (then completed the flush to add insult to injury) I just cannot put that much faith into an on-line read. All that being said, by winning percentage is way too high (over time) to start playing KK differently, after all, you are ahead of every other starting hand but 1. Can anyone put this hand down? Re: Folding KK preflop.
I don't think anyone can lay down KK preflop. You just gotta eat it when/if he turns over AA.

Re: Folding KK preflop.
On Stars, particularly in a freeroll, this move could just as well mean 88.

Push it in, I would never fold KK in this spot.

Re: Folding KK preflop.
I just posted a reply on this topic to another post. You have described the one situation where I would consider folding. I probably still call, though.

Re: Folding KK preflop.
I may consider folding if I misread my hand and thought I had 77...but then I would have double checked and saw that I really had KK, laughed and gleefully hit the call button.

Re: Folding KK preflop.
Well the first thing to note is how deep is the money. You have 77K left. He called 28K making a 58K pot then raised a further 77K making the pot 125.
Sorry I do not think the money is deep enough for me to fold. If he bet 770K into a 58K pot now you might well fold. Besides this is a Poker Stars Freeroll, A FREEROLL, do you think you can trust everyone to be taking it seriously? If I am playing in a Freeroll I am either autofolding or playing like a manic, because its not worth spending too much time on the tournament. |
