WSOP side action
Rumours have been floating around of a Texas billionaire playing heads up limit hold 'em against a couple pros at $50k-$100k
Rumour was a bunch of players pooled their money: First Doyle Brunson played for a few days and the pros got stuck about $4 million. While the billionaire was requesting a stake increase, the pros were demanding they reduce the stakes... So Phil Ivey played 40k-80k against this guy and they got stuck another million. Anyone with any verifiable details on this? |

Re: WSOP side action
the guy's name is "andy beal", and the game is called "the big game". it's not a wsop side thing.

Re: WSOP side action
I heard the same story from the dealers at Bellagio. According to them he comes out somewhat often for this "big game". The instance you are referring to I was told about as well. The pros where stuck 4 or 5 million but came back and took him for 10 million or something like that.

Re: WSOP side action
As I was playing the 80/160 Omaha8 game at the table directly next to table 1 I will say with 100% accuracy that the game was 100k-200k. The blinds were 50k 100k. They were playing with Red/White 25k chips. I do not think anyone here can accurately guess how much money the won or lost as far as I heard the players lost a good deal of money this time and then Andy went home.

Re: WSOP side action
this is consistent with what i heard from reliable sources.
1-2 and beal took em for a few million this time around. basically my guess is it wouldnt really be worth it for the pros and backers to continue this big game for such high stakes. heads up is high variance stuff as it is and even though ive heard there are some pretty rich backers it just doesnt sound like it'd be worth it for them to continue on playing sporadic 100-200k heads up matches. |
