Default Comps in Lake Charles

I'm trying to pick a cardroom in Lake Charles to do most of my B&M playing. I play online for a living right now, but am looking to start playing b&m more, in part for the comps.

What I'd like is a comp program that stores how much I've played. I'd like to use that for hotel rooms, even if I'm not playing on that particular trip. Even better would be if I could be comped a hotel room at a different property of the same company.

So what's the deal on comping at Harrahs, Isle of Capri, and Coushatta?

As far as I can tell, Harrahs will only comp on the day that you play. They don't keep track of how much you've played.

Get an Asian friend to make the reservations, they love comping someone with an Asian name. But I do know the Isle will comp you like $6 in food for 4 hours of play.

I'd like to be able to play 4 hours and get the $6 in food on a different day.

I played at Harrah's and the Capri last time and was able to get comps at both.

The Capri also sent me a mailer with a coupon for a free $35 and a free room (weeknight only).

As another poster mentioned - they definitely give comps out to the asian folks - a friend I've been there with before (asian) was getting those mailers (with free weekend nights not just weekday) long before I was.

FWIW, I think Harrah's is a better place to play and the comps seemed decent as well. Don't know about free rooms there though, although they should do it considering that they really need to the headcount in the poker room right now.

I play at both places. I get more comps from the Isle. Free rooms for poker players is almost unheard of. The Isle sends me about 4 or 5 every month. BTW I am not Asain. Sometimes they will be weekends, but usually for Sun-Thurs at the Inn. The action has been better at the Isle. Many days there is not a 10/20 game at Harrahs. Low limit action follows the bad beat jackpot. Thats usually at the Isle because they have more games to build the JP. I do wish the Isle would make some room upgrades. Good Luck!!

So, in other words, it's not that unheard of.

Does Isle of Capri keep track of how much you've played? How much do you have to play to get comped there? Can I play 10 hours one day and then get a free meal on a different day?

Free rooms for most poker players come on weeknights, but I'd imagine if you dropped a few bucks in a slot machine, you'd get the same comps. The weekend rooms are reserved for the gamblahs. You will only get the free food once per day. They are pretty liberal about this, I forgot to give them my card twice, and still got the comp by givng a sad face (and it was pretty obvious I had been in the room all day with my friends who remembered to give their cards).

I don't know of any other casino who gives poker players FREE rooms. I don't play any other games....Period! I give them my players card when I buy in and reclaim it when I get my comp. Food comp for every 6 hours. A comp will expire in 7 days, but the "value" goes back to your comp account.

Me and my friends have been going to Lake Charles on a regular basis for about a year now. We go about once every two months or so. We're from Austin, TX.

I play poker and other games (craps, BJ, etc) at Isle of Capri. I have been getting coupons from them from the very beginning. These coupons include free money (usually $10 - $30) and free rooms. The free rooms are usually only good on the weekdays, but I have gotten them for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

I think that I may be getting the coupons because of my non-poker game play.

In the poker room at Isle of Capri, you can get food comps after just a few (5-6) hours of play. I think you build up credit. We're at the point where the brush will just ask how much we want for our comp. The ticket is good for several days. I've heard that the unused credit goes back into your poker "comp account." The food comp is good at any of the food places at Isle of Capri.

As for Harrah's, they only recently (about six months ago) started spreading poker (again). I played $100 worth of table games there two years ago and they have been sending me coupons ever since. The coupons have been for rooms and for food (free buffets). I've used some of the room coupons and food coupons. Occasionally, I'll get some free money coupons from Harrah's.

The poker room at Harrah's appears to be very generous with comps. After about six hours of play, they will give you a comp. The comp does not have a listed value, but is good for either the buffet or the breakfast bar (depending on the time of day).

At both places, I suggest you get a Players Card right away. And make sure to give the card to the brush (or dealer for the non-poker games) every time you play. Be polite and you'll usually get free food after every session.

I read another thread here that suggested tipping a buck or two to the person giving out comps when you get the comp. I am not sure about that practice and have not seen it at Lake Charles.

Where are you from? When do you plan to go? We plan to go and play poker (and some other games) in the middle of June.

Best of luck.
