Default worth a crying call?

Pretty passive table, including the players in this hand (Party 1/2). I think that it was an awfully big pot to be folding in for one more bet, but it does seem damn likely that the villian has me beat, so I thought I would ask.

Also, would I have been better check-calling the river?

Yes you would have. Do you think both of them are calling you down with Ace high or an underpair? One probably is but not both. TPWK or a turned flush draw are more likely to be calling your turn bet. Both those dogs made it there on the river unfortunately for you. Check it through.
FWIW I do make the crying call.

If you can't comfortably fold to a raise, you should consider check calling the river.

You're assuming he needs both to call. He only needs one. I be the river because you'll get calls from all kinds of stupid crap. small pocker pairs, the guy holding K9, any ace, and lots of other really wierd hands...this is party 1/2 we are talking here.

The river bet is good.....fold to the raise tho. You're beat, how many times do you see someone passively call to the river to checkraise bluff 2 people?

If you're gonna fold your overpair to a raise you shouldn't bet with a scary board like that, IMO.

I'm not assuming that both need to call, if only one calls the bet has value *IF* he's ahead. You're right that people may call with a worse hand, but with that board it's more likely they will fold if you're ahead and pop you for two when you're behind. I think he's gotta check and hope for a bluff from a worse hand.

I should dig out a bunch of hand histories and post what kind of junk people call with, regardless of the board. If you bet the river for value every single time you'd win far far more money at party 1/2 then you would lose.
