Pt. Edwards 5/10
The town is Sarnia. The casino is Pt. Edwards.
The players are awful as usual. One player named Lulu has taken to calling me "loosey" since I'm tight. He is two to my left and raises my big blind with any two that add up over 10. Although he's done it with 2 that didn't also... Anyway I'm in the BB with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG limps, Lulu raises, 2 cold callers, SB calls, I call, and UTG 3 bets (limp raise). Lulu caps. All call to me. I figure with 11:1 on my call it was a clear call at this point. Flop K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] SB checks, I bet, UTG raises, Lulu calls, one limper calls, one folds, sb calls. I 3-bet. UTG caps. All call. Turn: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Weak! SB checks, I check, UTG bets, we all call. River: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] . SB checks, I bet. UTG calls. The rest fold. Lulu SWEARS that he had an 8 high flush he folded. He shows me the 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Later that night he recounts the hand and says how he knew I had a higher flush. He says I gave it away when I check-called the turn. Now, my questiion is: Should I have check-raised the turn? With 3 guaranteed calls I was barely getting the bad side of the odds and I would've really thrown the others off. Normally I'd say this is too tricky for 5/10, but this guy repeatedly swore by his laydown. To be honest, I'm not sure I believed it, but what do you guys think of my play? Thanks, Sean |

Re: Pt. Edwards 5/10
You pretty much played it by the book. The only question is whether or not you should have tried for a checkraise on the river.
If he laid down an 8 high flush on the river for one bet on the river, he is an even bigger idiot than he already seemed to be. Good luck, play well, Bob T. |
