Smooth call with the nuts? Am I nuts?
I actually raised, but it got me to thinking. I'll explain.
I raised UTG in a 5/10 6 max game at Party with KQo. The blinds were the only callers. The flop was A J 7 all spades, I had the K of spades. I bet and the SB was the only caller. The turn was the Q of spades giving me the nuts. The SB bet into me. I raised and he paid me off on the river as well. Seems standard, right? After checking the hand history, he had K3o with the 3 of spades. It got me thinking. Should I have just called the turn planning on raising the river? Obviously in this case it didn't matter because he isn't a very good player. What is the best play? |

Re: Smooth call with the nuts? Am I nuts?
I'd raise the turn and hope to be able to three bet, which won't happen often, but will gain you more in the long run than possibly picking up an extra bet on the river.

A lot of times you're just being tested. I doubt he would have bet the river.
