Default 20-40 Q-Q in bb make this overcall on the river?

20-40 live game, one middle position player calls, button who is a loose raiser raises, small blind calls, I have Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in the Big blind and make it 3 bets. Everyone calls, four see the flop. J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Small blind bets, I raise, mp folds, button calls two cold, sb calls. Turn is the A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] sb checks, I bet both players call. River is the 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] pairing the board. Sb checks, I check, button bets, sb calls. The sb is a straight forward player, and the button is a loose agressive player who makes strange bets and bluffs. Make an overcall here? What if the button was a rock instead?

Results: I call almost expecting to lose.
Button was bluffing with K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] a missed gut shot on the turn.
sb has Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
I win a nice pot. What do you guys think about the hand? What about the plays on earlier streets?

I think you took all factors into consideration here. First, you didn't get raised on the turn, which is always a positive sign. Second, the river bettor is a known bluffer as you stated, so it's not totally surprising that he would bluff at a busted draw against two opponents. Third, your call closes the action.

Against two very solid players, it would obviously be a much more difficult decision.

lately i've been preferring to BET the river in this situation because of how often worse hands will call, how rarely people will bluff raise, and how hard it is to overcall even when you don't respect your opponents. i think i'm only checking this one if i'm actually planning on folding.
