You played it perfectly. Just be thankful he didn't come after you on the turn as well. I had a hand a while back where the flop came Q98 clubs, giving me the nut flush. The board never paired. I capped every steet, thinking villian was a moron with Kx clubs. He showed me JTc and took it down. I never regretted my play. I'm never giving anyone credit for the straight flush (unless the board looks like QJT9 of one suit). I think you'll make money in the long run playing this way. God knows there are enough fish who WILL cap every street with the second nut flush.

Similarly, I have a very hard time giving someone credit for quads. Sure I've lost some money when boats have run up against quads, but I'm pretty sure I'm making money in the long run from the people who will cap with underboads or sets.

Edit to add: I'm still waiting for my first straight flush (none so far in about 12K hands). And I hope like hell that when I get it, it gives someone else the nut flush. Boy, that will be a fun hand.

Nope, you played it well and he showed you the ultimate monster under the bed. What can you do, at least it almost never happens. Don't worry about it.

No, just be happy that he slowplayed it, else you would have lost 2-3 more.

Yeah. Online, where there's always a 4-bet cap, it's fine to never worry about a straight flush. In a B&M casino where there's no cap when it's heads-up, you should probably start to think about it when it gets 5-bet (at LL tables).

Preflop: Standard

Flop: I'm not sure if I like the raise here. You've got a great draw, but I'd like the others to be coming along for the ride, and you put it two bets cold to the remaining two players. I don't think it's a BAD play, but I think I would have called the flop bet (if I'm stupid let me know plz )

Turn: Standard

River: Also standard I believe.

The straight flush is possible, but you will win here a LOT more than you will lose, so I'm capping if I can.

You played it correctly.

Did you realize at the table that you didn't have the nuts? You can't afford to play for that possibility yet but it should have crossed your mind.

If the turn had been capped I might have stopped before the river got capped too.

Raising the flop is correct.

1. He could get a free card.

2. He could win unimproved by getting heads up when UTG is betting a lower draw. Indeed, making the flush may have lost the hand for him.

3. He could force a low pair like K5 out, winning when a king comes.

4. If enough people fold, he could semibluff the turn, trading his free card for a free showdown but maybe winning immediately.

I got my first straight flush a couple days ago, unfortunately I got no action on it.

As for the guy who posted his hand, you played it fine, I wouldn't put him on the straight flush until he showed it to me.
