Default limp in with JJ?

Should I raise JJ preflop when playing the small limits filled with people who call 2 or 3 bets cold with hands like K5 all the time? It seems like the 57% chance of an overcvard on the flop combined with the likelyhood that preflop raises will not chase out a lot of people holding any one face card makes JJ a preflop limper on the smaller limits. If I raise preflop and an overcard flops but I dont hit my trips, should I fold to any bet or wait until the turn when the bets increase?

You should certainly be raising JJ preflop in many/most places.

As Dynasty likes to say, you have the 4th best starting hand in holdem. If you can't raise with that what can you raise with?

Believe it or not you will not lose everytime an overcard flops. Also, you underestimate the kind of hands that people will call with. People will be calling with plenty of hands that don't contain overcards. You need to raise to cut down their implied odds.

Whether you raise with jacks depends on a number of factors, but in a game where people will call with all sorts of junk, you certainly should.

Think about this, if they are going to call a raise with the hands you speak of, they are certainly going to play for one bet. So by not raising, you make their play more correct and you win a smaller pot when you do win.

No it isn't me, but I hope his name is not maxpower, because that is my Party name. If there is a maxpower playing .5/1 please let me know, so I can contact support.

You first sentence answered your first question. Yes, you should raise preflop when opponents will routinely coldcall with dominated hands.

It's hard to define simple rules of thumb as to when to know when your big pair is beaten by overcards. Post some hands.

Too vague of a question to answer.
