What does CO stand for? Excuse my stupidity.
This is going to sound like a really simple question to most, but what does CO stand for? People often say, player 1 in the bb, player 2 in middle position, hero in CO... Thanks.

Re: What does CO stand for? Excuse my stupidity.
CO stands for the cutoff seat, the one to the immediate right of the button.

Re: twoplustwo archives
You know, I recall there being a post in the archives about the origin of the term, but I can't seem to find it. I think Mason answered it.

Re: twoplustwo archives
I read something by Jim Brier where he gave credit for the term to Bob Ciaffone.
If a raise from a player in this seat folds the button (“cutting him off”), it allows him to act last for the rest of the hand. |

I guess that's actually where I heard it then.

Re: twoplustwo archives
That's interesting, but I always took it to mean that it was the dividing line, or cutoff, between the hands from UTG to the hands in the collective of the blinds and dealer.
This would be well-illustrated in games where there is a blind on the button. |

Re: What does CO stand for? Excuse my stupidity.
Ciaffone ("Coach") in all his books, especially Middle Limit Holdem Poker (which IMO is the best poker book I've read, allowing for the subject condition), uses "cutoff seat" to be button-1. As AcesOver8s said. You can talk about the cutoff in tournaments (sometimes the "bubble"), as in "PartyPoker's 1500 player tournaments have the cutoff way down the pack."
If you look at the bottom of the list on the left, you should see, under "Directory", a link for abbreviations. =e |

Okay, I looked at that Abbreviations list. It's ... uh.... abbreviated. There are better.
"PFR" was used in another No-limit topic, I think it stands for PreFlop Requirements -- or is that "Result" ? Dunno. |
