How do you stop a 3 day tilt fest?
I'm on the worst run of my 2 year online career. I probably have won 3 significant hands out of my last 1,000. If I have a small pocket pair, the flop is huge. If I have AK suited, the board falls 456-Q-7.
The best flop I've had in 3 days was last night in the big blind with 78o. Flop comes 7-8-10. I bet, 3 callers. Turn A. I bet. 3 callers. River A. Lose to A4. I've gotten 4th in my last 3 sit n go's. Two at limits over my head because of the tilt I'm on. I know I need to take a break, but I just need to get this off my chest. I've built up my bankroll playing multi's and SnG's. But for some reason, I keep sitting down at the ring games. I think I forgot how to win at a ring. |

Re: How do you stop a 3 day tilt fest?
The easiest way to stop tilt is to stop playing. That's it. Period. Do not play for a week.

Take a break. Come back. Still on tilt? Take a longer break.
We've all been there -- continuing to play on tilt will destroy your bankroll. Taking a break, however, costs player nothing and saves whatever you'd lose. Trust me, many of us speak from experience, taking a break when you're on tilit is +EV. ElSapo |

Re: How do you stop a 3 day tilt fest?
My solution is to go play soccer. Then come back at a smaller limit until I feel comfortable and confident again.

Hit the gym. Go for a jog. Read a book. Play video games. Watch a movie. Play some basketball.
Then study up a little, reading a good poker book or two, play some micro limits and get back on a winning track. Good luck. Luke |

Re: How do you stop a 3 day tilt fest?
Taking a break and doing something else that you enjoy is probably the best advice anyone could give, but I have an alternate remedy that you may want to consider.
Sometimes just a change of senery and some time away form my computers is all I need to get back to taking down pots. So, if you can't get away from the cards (or don't want to) there is no confidence booster like the 3/6 or 4/8 game at my near by casino. I try to play there a few days a week anyway, but there are days when I hadn't planned on it but will still make the trip because the on-line poker is not going well. Be careful with this though. You have to be able to leave your on-line woes at home and step in to that poker room ready to dine on all you can eat fish. This of course only applies if you have a casino/poker room within a reasonable distance that features a loose weak game. However, there is yet another option. Call up some friends a get a home game together. Bring the fun back in to the poker. A table, some cards, a case or two of beer, and some friends can make for a great night of poker. Just keep the limits/buy-ins at a level within your comfort zone. If all else fails there is one final option. You can always pick up the disgusting and infinatly unhealthy, yet relaxing, habit of smoking. I've smoked for about 5 years and am currently aiming to ween myself off of them, but they can still do the trick after a string of beats. However, I do not recomend this.
