I like your play in the first hand: a slight overbet on the flop to make life tough on the drawing hands, with decent followup bets. You got unlucky, but of course the eventual winner hit a very good turn card, giving himself lots of outs. Bottom two is very vulnerable but with short stacks like these, playing it hard until you run into resistance is okay.

In the second case, your hand looks quite shaky on the flop. You've already made a raise, and someone makes a big raise behind you. This usually means a strong hand: an overpair at a minimum.

There aren't many overpair-or-better hands that you beat. A straight looks possible, as does a set. Even if he only has an overpair there's a decent chance you'll be outdrawn. I would say this might be a time to fold.
