Default 64s - 1/2 Party - Bet the turn?

Should I have bet the turn here or taken a free card? In the future I might bet in this spot, as I'm clearly not always going to catch on the river, and it might gain a fold. I clearly had the EP confused here though. Also, was it too lose to play this hand here, 6-handed, in the first place? It's a relatively tight 1/2 group.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 handed)

Preflop: MasterShakes is CO with 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG folds, MP folds, MasterShakes calls, Button calls, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (4 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB bets, BB folds, MasterShakes raises, Button folds, SB calls.

Turn: (4 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, MasterShakes checks.

River: (4 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets, MasterShakes raises, SB calls.

Final Pot: 8 BB

Results in white below:
SB shows Ad 5h (one pair, fives).
MasterShakes shows 6d 4d (straight, six high).
Outcome: MasterShakes wins 8 BB.

Very loose preflop.

Bet the turn, you may be holding the best hand anyway.

Don't open-limp in the CO. Don't open in the cutoff with suited 1-gappers below about J9 or QT.

Hi Shakes,

The proper play for pre-Flop and the Turn has already been discussed, so I'll examine your Flop play. I would just call the Flop, not raise. Sure, you have a monster draw, but the pot is extremely small. I would prefer to try to keep the Button in so that I make more when I hit my draw, than to buy a free card or try to take the pot down there or in a future round. Make the pot a bit larger, and I like your play. If the Button is as likely to call 2 as he is 1 if he has any sort of hand or draw, then I like your play. I know it seems instinctive to raise when you Flop a monster draw, but this is a situation where I would just call.

Agree with previous posters. Having said that, given that it appears to be a tight table, you could have tried a cheeky raise pre-flop. Calling is definitely the worst of the three options though.

If you HAVE to play this garbage (and don't do it), you should raise-even though you are raising with the worst hand, at least you get the benefit of mixing up your play, plus you might get the blinds or be able to steal on the flop. Ok, you wont get the blinds, but you might be able to steal.
At least you played strong after the flop-but wait, where's that turn bet! If you bet the turn, you can check down the river if you want (and you don't improve), although I think I would bet the river assuming no paint hits, because you likely would have been 3-bet on the flop by top pair and are looking at a pair of threes or fives, or some kind of bluff. And if he checkraises you on the turn, you don't have to pay off on the river, since you know your hand is no good unless it improves.
